This commercial is the worst type of propaganda.

You say you’d rather see “ the sista’…bash a Heineken bottle upside [the] dude’s head.” A dude who as far as we know has done nothing wrong other than have the wrong thoughts in his head.

Is that better propaganda? Tricking people into thinking smashing bottles on people’s heads will resolve problems? Yikes. Somebody get this sista’ a PR job for the Military Industrial Complex.

It tricks you into thinking social problems can be resolved if only people tolerate their oppression just a LITTLE while longer.

Yes people tolerate their oppression and it’s a problem. But back to the ad:

How does watching people interact with someone of an opposing viewpoint “trick people into thinking social problems can be resolved by tolerating oppression”?

Spoiler: It doesn’t. On the contrary, it promotes the idea that social problems, like transphobia, CAN be resolved through civil discourse. And I’m disturbed I have to clarify this but: YOU CAN HAVE CIVIL DISCOURSE WITHOUT “TOLERATING OPPRESSION”.

It pushes the idea that bigotry, sexism, and transphobia are just differences of opinion that are up for debate, and deserving of civil discourse…

So you are pushing the idea that we should NOT have civil discourse? (Cause fuck MLK and nonviolence right?) It all makes sense now. You hate this ad because it goes against your aggressively pro-violence stance.

The ad shows “Life isn’t black and white.” People CAN find common ground.

And you’d rather simply smash a bottle over someone’s head.
