MLK would definitely Stand with Standing Rock!!!
Martin Luther King’s words are as relevant as ever. In this video I wanted to highlight the many parallels between the civil rights movement of the 60’s and the NoDAPL movement of the present. MLK would definitely stand with Standing Rock!
In the civil rights movement of the 60’s the turning point was when the government’s atrocities were televised for all to see. This makes the relative lack of mainstream coverage of the NoDAPL movement very frustrating. It may seem like the battle is over. But it is not. Protests continue around the country and the the fight will continue in the courts.
BUT we also have to continue the fight to spread awareness of what is happening and what has already happened. Because of the awful lack of coverage most people still do not understand the DAPL conflict and what has happened up to this point.
Like MLK preached that we must not sit around waiting on time. We must take action like the water protectors of Standing Rock. It’s up to us to get the word out; it’s up to us to change the course of history.
